BRIEF

For this design brief we had to create a suite of new digital products to help Auckland Transport become more inclusive to university students living with health conditions or impairments. We decided to focus on visual impairments, including the broad spectrum of different sight abilities, legally blind and colour blind users. Our target audience are tertiary students ranging between the ages of 18-28 years old.

SOLUTION

Our long term goal is to simplify the process of commuting using assistive technology to support the visually impaired. We aim to achieve this by focusing on our five main keywords: safe, independent, fun, friendly, and inclusive. This will help us to solve the main issues our target audience often experience; such as knowing which bus to take, travelling safely without assistance, and creating a sense of independency for our users. We have created "LEAP" as a sub-brand alongside Auckland Transport to solve these problems by designing an app and a corresponding website. Our website's main purposes will be to help the user set up saved journeys, connect with friends and family members, for the "guide a friend" feature and to manage and top up account balances. However, the app will be used more for the actual journey, helping the user by guiding them, they can also request for help if needed, update them on any interferences they may encounter, such as weather or cancelations.
